SERVING MY COMMUNITY

OUR AWARD WINNING SAFETY COMMITTEE

Our work before and during the pandemic  earned the WD Neighborhood Safety Committee the 2nd Place Award for the City's Best Social Program Improvement.

POSTPONED TO 2022 DUE TO COVID PANDEMIC

For the past 30 years, I have fulfilled my passion through serving the public before, during, and after a disaster. In my neighborhood, the greatest concern is hurricanes. As a volunteer, I serve as the coordinator of our neighborhood's SOUTHSIDE HURRICANE SAFETY  FEST. I'm appealing to you for your help.

Purpose

When a disaster hits, one of the first  things people do is reach out to  those closest to them: neighbors and loved  ones. Knowing this, we want  to strengthen neighborhood bonds that are vital  before and after a hurricane hits.

The FEST

Serving our neighbors in Apalachee  Ridge, Blairstone Forest, Indianhead-Lehigh, Myers Park, South City and Woodland  Drives

  • Give-a-ways  of hurricane-related items
  • Hurricane safety-related speakers and exhibits from the public and private sectors
  • Food and beverages
  • Games for kids
  • Music and entertainment

Charitable Focus

The CHARITABLE PORTION of  our event is to provide much needed hurricane supplies to low income  families who might otherwise be unable to afford them. We hope to  provide 300 sets of supplies.

How YOU can help

Each set of supplies - as listed by the City of Tallahassee through their Neighborhood PREP Program - costs $100. Please help us reach our $30,000 goal which will provide 300 full sets of hurricane supplies. You can donate here: http://wooddrives.com/southside_hurricane_fest.html
